Hey there, I'm Kerry, a Connecticut resident whose journey into the wild world of native plants began with a house that was the outdoorsy cousin of the infamous "money pit." Little did we know, we'd landed ourselves a Christmas tree farm graveyard instead. Trees were dropping like flies, turning our property into a forest of the dearly departed.

After we played lumberjack to clear the land, it was like opening the door for invasive plants to throw a wild party in our soil. Ignorance was bliss until we found ourselves in a battle against every invasive plant know to man. What began as a quest for a picturesque yard turned into a mission to restore the balance nature intended.

Now, I spend my free time waging war against invasive species, armed with pruners and a newfound appreciation for native flora. As much as I'd like to say it's all for the aesthetics, this journey has evolved into something bigger—a concern for the critters and creatures relying on native habitats.

I'm not here to bore you with botanical jargon or environmental guilt trips. Instead, I'm here to share the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of a regular person trying to do right by Mother Nature.

Let's face it: We've all been stuck in the rabbit hole of analysis paralysis, drowning in information overload. You Google a simple question, and suddenly you're faced with 10,000 answers, each more confusing than the last. It's enough to make you want to throw in the trowel (get it?).

I'm here to jolt you out of that scrolling stupor and get you to take that first step. I get it; it's like that moment when my mom decided my swim teacher needed to gently boot me into the pool because I was too scared to take the plunge. Sometimes, you just need a little nudge.

On this blog, you won't find lengthy, convoluted advice that feels like reading a Latin textbook. Instead, you'll get down and dirty steps to kickstart your native gardening project. From selecting the right plants to dealing with those pesky invasive troublemakers, I've been there, spent the money, and lost countless hours figuring it all out.

Consider this your sign to stop the endless scroll, put down the phone, and start planting. It's time to jump into the gardening pool, my friends. And I'll be right here, cheering you on and sharing the lessons I've learned along the way.
